The ‘Digging into Early Colonial Mexico: A large scale computational analysis of 16th century historical sources’ is a project that combines the use of digital technologies for the identification, extraction and analysis of historical information from the corpus called the Geographic Reports of New Spain. Using theories and methods from Geographic Information Systems, Machine Learning, Corpus Linguistics, and Natural Language Processing, the project is aiming to change the ways we approach textual collections of interest in history and archaeology.
