The Catálogo Colectivo de Marcas de Fuego (CCMF) is an international collaboration of more than 30 institutional partners and private collectors throughout Mexico, Europe, Canada, and the United States. The project brings together digitally the vast diversity of firebrands that were used in many colonial libraries throughout the territories of the Spanish Crown. As a librarianship tool, the CCMF enables the virtual reconstruction of bibliographic collections that have suffered a great dispersion due to various historical reasons. The CCMF is also useful in establishing accurate provenances for cataloguing purposes in many bibliographical collections.
