Evelina Guzauskyte is an associate professor of Spanish at Wellesley College where she also serves as the Faculty Director of the Andrew W. Mellon Blended Learning Initiative (BLI). Her research interests include digital humanities, indigenous and Spanish toponymy in colonial sources, early colonial chronicles, the history of clothing in colonial Latin America, and blended learning approaches to teaching. As the Faculty Director of the BLI, she has worked with students and faculty to support more than 65 projects on campus, and organized two symposia dedicated to the digital humanities and blended learning in the liberal arts. Her first book, Christopher Columbus’s Naming in the diarios of the Four Voyages (1492-1504) (University of Toronto Press, 2014) underscores Taino, Ciboney, and Carib voices and knowledge in Christopher Columbus’s naming of places. She is currently working on her second book with the working title Imperial Gaze, Local Narratives: The Politics of Female Fashion in Eighteenth-century New Spain.
